Education Committee

The Education Committee usually meets monthly. Through a classroom presentation, books, and other educational materials, this committee helps many Lafayette third graders learn the value of trees. The classes also get hands-on tree planting experience planting a tree in their schoolyard. They also do adult education.

Volunteers needed:

3rd Grade Classroom Presentations; Coordinate adult education programs; Schedule school programs; Develop educational programs; Online educational programs

Marketing Committee

The Marketing Committee usually meets monthly. The committee plans for Arbor Day, Earth Day, and the Annual Meeting. They send out the newsletters, press releases, news releases, and the Annual Report. They do publicity for all events. They are responsible for social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and blog) updates, the organization’s website, the Tree Lafayette YouTube channel, promoting Tree Lafayette, and maintaining the integrity of the brand. In addition, they champion all fundraising and volunteer recruiting events.

Volunteers needed:

Graphic design; Publish newsletters; Develop flyers; Maintain and update the website; Plan Annual Meeting; Post and manage Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts; Publish the Annual Report; Make videos: Recruit and engage volunteers; Fundraising; Publicity

Tree Committee

The Tree Committee meets monthly. The committee helps plan Earth Day, Arbor Day and the third-grade elementary school plantings. They work weekly on most Wednesdays, some Saturdays and Thursdays, and other days as needed from May through October. They plant trees. They maintain and care for trees with pruning, mulching, and watering.

Volunteers needed:

Wednesday morning tree care; Saturday morning pruning; Thursday evening pruning; Watering Crew; Assist with 3rd Grade tree planting events; Project managers; Maintain tools and supplies; Tree Planting Site monitors

Development Committee

The Development Committee usually meets monthly. The committee searches for grant opportunities. The committee prepares and submits all grant applications and maintains the donor/supporter database. They send out renewals for funding, maintain the operational budget, and post income and expenditure items. They also oversee the annual financial review and file Federal and State tax and business forms and reports.

Research grants; Prepare and submit grants; Treasurer; Bookkeeper; Maintain databases; Corporate fundraising
