April 1, 2021 - Our first tree planting day of the year. We
relocated 11 trees (that were going to be in the way of
new construction) to new locations. Some went to
Oakland High School. The move went well with Tree
Lafayette volunteers, the City Forester, and help from
Renew. 11 trees saved.

Arbor Day 2021 Tree Planting Event

Volunteers Needed

We are running the event differently this year due to COVID.  Volunteer teams will plant trees starting at staggered times.  Form your small team (3-5 adults) of close friends, coworkers, or relatives to safely plant trees to limit exposure to COVID.  Each small team will need to select a team name and then the 3-5 individuals will enter the team name when each person pre-registers.  This will reduce potential exposure to small groups that are comfortable with each other and have agreed to work together.  All volunteers (16 and older) must be pre-registered.  Volunteers (16 and over) will need to each pre-register individually online.  We will notify each volunteer of where and what time that they need to arrive at the event (between 9:15 am and 11:00 am on May 1st).  Each team will plant 3 trees.  The planting holes will be pre-dug and all needed tools will be provided.  There will not be interaction between teams and the teams will social distance from each other.   If individuals pre-register and are not part of a pre-arranged team, we will pair them up with other individuals to form 3-5 person teams.  Prior tree planting knowledge or experience is not required.  Face masks will be required for safety.  A trained team leader will be assigned to each team.  Click on the button below to pre-register.

The 2021 Arbor Day Volunteer Tree Planting Event is scheduled for Saturday, May 1, 2021, in Lafayette, Indiana.  Approximately 64 trees will be planted by volunteers.  The event will be held on North 15th Street.  Help plant trees for our community, for the environment, and to help reduce the effects of climate change.  Trees have so many benefits.  We will be planting our 3,500th tree during the event.  Come out and get some exercise and enjoy some fresh outdoor air.
