History of Tree Lafayette  (formerly Lafayette Tree Fund, Inc.)

The Lafayette Tree Fund, Inc. was established in 1993 by Charter members Arlan N. Stavnheim, Rob Galbraith, Orvin Lindell,  David Lahr, William H. Baugh; Johanna Downie, and Rosie Lerner. Joni Heide, city forester, was the advisor.

In 2009, the Tree Fund’s Board of Directors celebrated raising  $27,917.36.  The Lafayette Tree Fund has raised $181,147 from grants and individual contributors and planted 128 trees along Twyckenham Blvd. for a total of 929 in major corridors and pruned 3,700 trees.

In 2006, the Lafayette-West Lafayette Urban Forestry Endowment was established at The Community Foundation.  We have raised more than $10,000 and we are ready to distribute the interest to neighborhoods that qualify for tree planting and maintenance. Apply at The Community Foundation under their grants program.
